Check permission first
Taipei's parks, riverside areas and campuses each have their own rules about organised gatherings, tents, amplified sound and vehicles. A small group picnic is usually simple; a company event with tables, a tent and a catering delivery may need an application or permission from the managing office. Ask the park management office or the venue owner well before the date, and ask where a vehicle can stop to unload.
Plan for heat and rain
Taipei summers are hot and humid, and afternoon thunderstorms are common from late spring to early autumn. Plan shade for the food table, a covered backup space or a rain date, and an earlier start in summer. In winter, the cold and damp make hot drinks and warm food more welcome, but keeping food hot outdoors without power is hard.
Keep food safe outdoors
- Choose food that is good at room temperature: sandwiches, wraps, onigiri, grilled items, salads with dressing on the side, baked goods and fruit.
- Keep cold food in cool boxes until serving and put out small amounts at a time.
- Common food safety advice is not to leave perishable food out for more than two hours, or one hour in hot weather.
- Keep food covered against insects and out of direct sun.
What to bring
- Folding tables, or a dry flat surface for the food.
- Shade for the food and drinks.
- Plenty of water and cups.
- Bins and bags for waste and recycling; leave the place as you found it.
- Wet wipes or a hand-washing option.
Which service level
Drop-off works for most picnics if your team can meet the delivery at the access point and carry it to the spot. Where there is power and permission for a proper buffet table, setup or staffed service is possible; tell us the exact location and access, and the team confirms what can be done safely before booking.
